Final score
Dunshaughlin Royal Gaels 2-19
Oldcastle 3-07
The Dunshaughlin girls provided a great display of football on home turf in their third win of the Division 1 league on Monday night.
He home side went into the first water break 1-07 to 0-1 ahead courtesy of a brace of points by Susie O’Rourke, a point each from the boots of Lisa Mooney & Laura Murray, 3 points & a ‘lucky’ goal from Ciara Gorman.
Oldcastle hit a purple patch in the second quarter when they racked up 2-04 with Orlagh McLoughlin unlucky not to save the first of the goals after getting a hand to it.
The visitors continued strong into the early stages of the second half raising the white and then the green flag for a third time before Gorman once again responded for the black and amber with further three points.
Laura Quinn, Petra Reilly & Kelly O’Dwyer kept the pressure on, surging forward for the Gaels. Super sub, Niamh McEntee was on the pitch less than a minute before she sent her first touch of the ball crashing to the back of the Oldcastle net raising a huge cheer from the bench. The Royals’ backs continued in impressive style holding Oldcastle to four scores in the second half.
Lauren Brophy, Petra Reilly & McEntee clocked up points for the home side securing a nine point win for the home team.
We would all like to wish Karla Kealy a speedy recovery and hope to see her back on the pitch very soon.
