Match Report
Div 4 League R2: Dunshaughlin Royal Gaels v Moynalvey 16th June.
Dunshaughlin Royal Gaels travelled to Moynalvey for Round 2 of the Division 4 League on 16th June where the final score line of 2-14 to 1-08 in favour of the Black and Amber side reflected a great finishing 15 minutes by the team.
Despite Róisin Bruce and Mary Mc Donagh winning the throw-up, Moynalvey got the opening point of the game. However, Laura Murray, Emma Kennedy and Jenny Kelly replied with 3 composed points. The full backs worked tirelessly, Eimear Traynor had hands like glue in the full back position and good thing too as I thought I spotted Seamus Traynor in the distance. Maeve Scanlan and Ella Moyles added their names to the scoreboard, leaving the half-time score at 1-4 Moynalvey to 0-6 Royal Gaels.
Despite terrific blocks by Traynor and Molly McNamara, Moynalvey scored the first 3 points in the second half. Royal Gaels went into the second water break with only one point being added in the second half by Ciara Gorman. Dunshaughlin came into their own in the final quarter of the match. It was a good night for Niamhs with both Niamh Curtin and Niamh McEntee blasting the ball into the back of the net. Ciara Gorman’s pre-game pasta finally kicked in as she popped 5 well-taken points over the bar. Róisin Bruce and Mary Mc Donagh also added to the scoreboard and the girl’s fantastic strong ending performance resulted in the final score being 2-14 to 1-08 to Royal Gaels.
Next up for the Division 4 team is a home game at 7.30pm on Friday 25th June vs neighbours Blackhall Gaels.
