Twelve weeks ago our Club; Dunshaughlin & Royal Gaels answered the call to participate in the National ‘Club Together’ Campaign to capture our unique community spirit & help people who do not have family and friends around to support them. Over 50 Club members and friends signed up to make daily deliveries of groceries & essential medication to cocooning & vulnerable members of the community. Co-ordinated by Royal Gaels Chairman Hughie McCarthy the team of volunteers have made over 4,000 deliveries of SuperValu groceries and essential prescriptions in Dunshaughlin, Drumree, Ratoath, Dunsany, Kilmessan & Skryne since March.
Our ClubTogether initiative is a joint venture between our Club and our main sponsor SuperValu Dunshaughlin & the local chemists; Kavanagh’s Haven & Toole’s Pharmacy. The feedback from those receiving the deliveries has been incredibly positive & people are very grateful when they meet our volunteers on the doorsteps. It is common to hear that they don’t know how else they would have been able to stay safe & get their essential items without this initiative. The deliveries are still ongoing with a steady rate of 50 daily.
