Dunshaughlin Royal Gaels v Trim
23rd March 2025, Dunshaughlin
Full Time score:
Dunshaughlin Royal Gaels 2-10
Trim 2-06
It was all go in the clubhouse as our Dunshaughlin Royal Gaels Division 3 team welcomed Trim for their third round game on Sunday morning with the minor boys game also in full swing on Pitch 1.
What a game!
Trim were out of the traps fastest, clocking up 1-01 before the home side got going. Katelyn Robinson narrowed the gap with two points before Trim raised the white flag again. The black and ambers missed a number of chances playing against a strong breeze. A foul on Laura Bourke resulted in a penalty being awarded which Petra Reilly expertly put away giving the @MinnisdevelopmentsLtd sponsored home side the lead for the first time in the game. Trim scored again to head into the break 1-03 to 1-02 up.
Half Time score:
Dunshaughlin Royal Gaels 1-02
Trim 1-03
An early goal and a point in the second half meant Trim were in the driving seat again going five points up.
The Gaels dug deep all over the pitch and started to claw back the scores, Eileen Gannon turned over the ball in the backs and drove forward resulting in a score from Bourke which was book ended by scores from Robinson. But it’s not all about the scorers, every girl on the team gave 100% commitment, challenging Trim all the way. The score now 1-07 to Trim’s 2-06, with minutes to go it was anyone’s game. A high ball was sent in to Kristina Troy, who finding herself one on one with the Trim keeper, hit the back or the net to put the Dunshaughlin girls ahead for a second time in the game. On the sidelines breaths were held as the Gaels pressed on as if their lives depended on it. Olivia Quinn added a point to the Royal Gaels’ tally before Robinson sealed Trim’s fate with two additional points securing a four point win for the home side.
A superb performance from the Dunshaughlin girls who now top the table with two wins and a draw. The next outing for the Division 3 team will be an encounter away to Moynalvey, date to be confirmed.
